The World of Supermodels

In 1990 the supermodel Linda Evangelista made a statement that become the most famous in the history of model business. She said: “I don't wake up for less than 10000 dollars a day”. Linda meant herself as well as her friend Christy Terlington. Namely they both refreshed the model world and became famous and influential stars.

Models have participated in many kinds of important events and of course have gained a lot of money. Some of them are very influential. One of the most highly paid supermodels is considered to be a Brazilian Gisele Bundchen who gained 33 millions dollars for the last year while Kate Moss gained 9 millions.

There are 15 models who got maximum fees for the last year. Heidi Klum (8 millions), Adriana Lima (6 millions)and Alessandra Ambrosio (6 millions) are also in the top 5.

They say the financial success of Gisele Bundchen is not occasional. The majority of models have one big contract and 3-4 seasonal campaigns. But as for Bundhen,she has 20 campaigns.

Supermodels have the opportunity to gain millions if they have a contract with a big company for years. Five years ago Brazilian models came into fashion. Bundchen, Lima and Ambrosio became known due to their contracts with Victoria Secret. Bundchen is also known because of her love-affair with Leonardo Di Caprio.

Later Europeans became fashionable: very pale and skinny ones. A Russian model Natalia Vodianova who sold fruit when she was 11, became fashionable due to the contract with Calvin Klein.

But today cosmetic companies as well as designers prefer signing contracts with the actresses. For example Scarlett Johanson represents Louis Vuitton,Eva Longoria – L'Oreal and Jessica Alba Revlon. Of course the list is not complete.
