The Columbian singer Shakira has donated 45 million dollars to Peru and Nicaragua. As the beauty announced at a New York summit on global climate change and development organized by Bill Clinton, all those money were destined to help victims of natural disasters. Nicaragua needs help in repairing damages caused by a hurricane while Peru people suffer from an earthquake damages.
Shakira said she personally saw all the awful consequences of natural disasters
in those countries. The superstar told she could not resolve all the problems there but it was her duty to help.
Shakira is going to give money to the ALAS (Latin America for Solidarity Foundation)founded by famous all around the world Nobel prize winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. As for the Colombian pop princess, she is the co-founder of the Foundation.
Moreover four Latin American countries will be given 5 million dollars from the sum on children in need education programs.
You know it is impossible to remain indifferent to the following Shakira's words: "When I see healthy kids instead of hungry faces and empty tummies, I realise I've made a difference and that I have to keep doing more every day."
And these are not just words, she has proven them with her deeds. So I think Shakira has shown all of us a great example of charity and generosity. And it is not obligatory to give enormous money. Everybody can make his own contribution and share his love, care and a piece of bread with those in need. Each of us can make this world a little bit better. Think about it.
