Gianni Versace's favorite residence built in the first half of the 19th century by Lord Charles Currie on the shores of northern Italy's ritzy and glitzy Lake Como is well known to the world elite.
Before being killed in 1997, Gianni Versace gave parties almost every weekend there. There were Princess Diana, Elton John, Sting and Madonna among couturier's guests at his glamorous weekend parties.
In 2001 Jennifer Lopez spent there her honeymoon after Versace family approved it. Then the property that for 20 years was Gianni Versace's favorite house has been left largely uninhabited.
The designer chose every item for the house himself, from furniture and paintings to table linen and dinnerware. It is possible to say he created a mini palace for himself.
Now according to Times the villa is actually in the process of being purchased by a very rich 46 years old rich Russian restaurateur named Arkady Novikov. He is often referred to as the "Blini Baron of Moscow'. He is to pay about 52 million dollars for the estate. They say he has already offered more money than the family expected to get to ensure the house doesn’t go on the open market.
Arkady Novikov refused to comment the Versace villa purchase. His wife only told they were not ready to discuss the topic.
The elegant four-storey Villa Fontanelle is a lavish and grandiose piece of architecture. It is filed with a number of magnificent statues and furniture.
